“You know what? I didn’t mess up about Paul Revere. Here’s what Paul Revere did. He warned the Americans that “the British were coming, the British were coming.” And they were going to try to take our arms so got to make sure that, uh, we were protecting ourselves and, uhm, shoring up all of our ammunitions and our firearms so that they couldn’t take them.”
- Palin on Fox News, clarifying the NRA sponsorship of her “fresh” take on Paul Revere. OK, we’re kidding about the NRA part, but we’d lay odds the NRA leadership wishes they’d thought of this.
“He who warned, uh, the British that they weren’t going to be taking away our arms uh by ringing those bells and making sure as he’s riding his horse through town to send those warning shots and bells that we were going to be secure and we were going to be free and we were going to be armed.”
- Sarah Palin in Boston, apparently previewing a rewrite of Longfellow’s Paul Revere’s Ride on behalf of the NRA. Next thing you know she’ll be claiming that the Boston Tea Party was a protest against British gun laws.
“I said, ‘You want to repeal health care? Go at it. We’ll have that debate. You’re not going to be able to do that by nickel-and-diming me in the budget. You think we’re stupid?’
– President Obama’s private remarks at an April 14, 2011 fund raiser caught on an open mike. Would someone please tell us why a little bluntness and forthrightness is not considered an essential Presidential trait?
There’s nothing serious about a plan that claims to reduce the deficit by spending a trillion dollars on tax cuts for millionaires and billionaires. And I don’t think there’s anything courageous about asking for sacrifice from those who can least afford it and don’t have any clout on Capitol Hill.
– President Obama on April 13, 2011. Only the Conservative Media Bias can explain the why the overwhelming assessment of Ryan’s plan is that it is “bold” and “serious” in spite of the fact that it redirects 2/3 of the spending reductions to more tax cuts for fat cats.
@repweiner: “why im not president. my version : “the gop plan is a disaster and ill chew my arm off before i sign it.”
– We like Rep. Weiner’s spunk. To paraphrase Nathan Hale: “I only regret that I have but two arms to chew off for my country.” Extreme Patriotism at its best!
@NancyPelosi: #GOP in charge for 99 days, 6 hrs, 56 mins with no #jobs bills-they’ll mark 100 days tmrw with a bill that ends medicare.
– With the exception of CEO employment, we seriously doubt that jobs are on the GOP ToDo list.
[W]e will reject any earmarks requested by us.
Senator John Cornyn, at a press conference, explaining why he and Senator Thune were going to vote against the omnibus budget bill, containing millions of dollars of earmarks they’d asked for. We’d call that hypocritical, but that would be unfair to hypocrites.
With all due respect, Mr. Chairman and Sen. McCain . . . . I have commanded three ships, a carrier battle group and two fleets . . . . For more than 40 years I have made decisions that affected and even risked the lives of young men and women. You do not have to agree with me on this issue. But don’t think for one moment that I haven’t carefully considered the impact of the advice I give on those who will have to live with the decisions that that advice informs. I would not recommend repeal of this law if I did not believe in my soul that it was the right thing to do for our military, for our nation and for our collective honor.
Admiral Mullen rebuking Senator McCain’s assertion that Mullen was not qualified to assess the impact of the repeal of DADT. Relax, Senator. The world is still safe for Chicken Hawks.
If anything is a threat to the national security of the United States of America, it is this screaming, unrefined oaf with as much class as a searing release of flatulence followed by hysterical giggling at a state banquet. Is this what the people of the USA deserve?
–Politicususa.com quoting a recent Pravda article excoriating Sarah Palin. Honestly, I’m sorry I didn’t think of this particular way of describing the former half Governor of Alaska. They also said: she shows the tact of a boorish drunkard bawling obscenities at a funeral. They get points for being direct if not for being tactful.
I frankly don’t care what the legislature thought.
- Justice Scalia in a public debate with Justice Breyer sponsored by Texas Tech University Law School.
Scalia’s record of dismissing and disregarding what anybody else thinks about anything is long and glorious. Makes it very easy to imagine what legislation means to suit your own prejudices, doesn’t it?
